AVAILABLE FUNDING OPTIONS
PAYING PRIVATELY

You have the option of purchasing homecare services privately to avoid wait times or supplement what is offered by CCAC. By doing this, you get to make the choice regarding the level of care that is  appropriate for you or your loved ones.

COMMUNITY CARE ACCESS CENTRE (CCAC)
These Access Centres are funded by the Local Health Integration Networks (LHINs) through the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care. CCAC services offered to you are covered by OHIP.

EXTENDED HEALTH INSURANCE PLAN
Please check with your insurance provider to see if you are eligible for coverage.

ONTARIO DISABILTY SUPORT PROGRAM (ODSP)
If you are receiving ODSP through the Ministry of Community and Social Services because of a disability, you might be eligible for coverage. Please check with your Case Worker.

INTERIM FEDERAL HEALTH PROGRAM (IFHP)
Resettled refugees, refugee claimants, certain persons detained under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act and other specified groups can receive temporary and limited healthcare coverage under the Interim Federal Health Program.

VETERANS AFFAIRS CANADA
Veterans Affairs Canada provides a number of healthcare services and supports to Canadian Veterans. Please check eligibility for financial support.

CHILDREN’S TREATMENT CENTRES
Children with special needs can receive services up to age 19 from Children Treatment Centres across Ontario. These centres provide rehabilitation services to children and youth with physical, developmental or communicative disabilities.
These include physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy. Many other programs and services may be offered depending on local needs.

ASSISTIVE DEVICES PROGRAM
Individuals with long term physical disabilities can get the necessary financial assistance through the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care which runs the Assistive Devices Program (ADP). Please note, ADP will only cover a portion of the costs associated with purchasing equipment or supplies. However, if you are receiving social assistance benefits – Ontario Works (OW), Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP) or Assistance to Children with Severe Disabilities (ACSD), you may be eligible to receive these funds. Please speak with one of our Associates for assistance.
These are some of the equipment or supplies that are covered:

• Communication devices
• Diabetes equipment and supplies
• Enteral feeding supplies
• Hearing aids
• Home oxygen
• Insulin pumps and supplies
• Orthotic devices
• Ostomy supplies
• Pressure modification devices
• Prosthetic devices (breast, limb, ocular, maxillofacial)
• Respiratory supplies and equipment
• Visual aids
• Wheelchairs, positioning and ambulation aids

SPECIAL SERVICES PROGRAM
The Special Services Program is funded and managed by the Ministry of Community and Social Services. This program assists families caring for a child with a developmental or physical disability.
The amount of funding a family receives depends on:
• The type and amount of service the child needs
• The availability of others services in the community
• Current support being received by the family

WORKPLACE SAFETY AND INSURANCE BOARD (WSIB)
The Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) provides insurance benefits if you are injured on the job. Although you might be receiving other benefits, you might still be eligible to receive WSIB to aid in your recovery and to purchase:
• Prescription drugs
• Medical devices and orthotics
• Transportation costs associated with work-related injury or illness

Please discuss with your Case Manager at WSIB or one of our Case Managers on the best way to proceed in claiming any of the above. WSIB will either pay you directly or reimburse you all expenses incurred out of pocket.
